Founded in 1939 in Bhilawadi by Late Shri Bhaskar Ganesh Chitale, Chitale Dairy began as a small pasteurization unit and grew into one of India’s most trusted dairy brands. With a strong farmer-first vision, we work with 50,000+ farmers, providing veterinary care, technical guidance, automated farms, and sustainable support.
Today, we process 3,00,000+ litres of milk daily and offer a wide range of products – milk, ghee, paneer, khoa, shrikhand, butter, cheese, buttermilk, lassi, and fortified nutrition products.
Our “Grass to Glass” initiative uses IoT, RFID, and cloud technology to monitor animal health and milk quality, ensuring ISO & HACCP-certified standards. With modern parlours, Rockwell-controlled plants, and a genetics lab (since 1997), Chitale continues to lead in dairy innovation.
Established a small milk collection center in Bhilawadi, Sangli district, laying the foundation for the Chitale Dairy business.
Expansion into Pune milk retailing & establishment of Chitale Bandhu Mithaiwale
With the electrification of the plant in 1964, machines began to replace traditional methods. In 1974, Chitale Dairy became a pioneer in India by introducing polythene pouch packaging and insulated transport—ensuring greater shelf life and market reach.

Automation, modern plants, genetics & frozen-semen lab established (1997)
In 1996, Chitale introduced RFID tagging for individual cattle and launched its “Cow-to-Cloud” service. A genetic breeding and frozen semen lab opened in 1997, enhancing disease diagnostics and livestock quality.

Founded by Shri Bhaskar Ganesh Chitale in Bhilawadi in the 1950s, Chitale Dairy has grown from a small milk distribution business into a renowned dairy brand. Successive generations of the Chitale family—Shri Raghunath, Shri N. B., Parshuram (Nanasaheb), and Dattatraya (Kakasaheb)—expanded and anchored the business across Sangli and Pune. Today, the third and fourth generations, including Shri Madhav, Shri Shrikrishna, Shri Sanjay, and Shri Kedar Chitale, manage operations, production, and marketing. Guided by the experience of Shri R. B. and Shri N. B. Chitale, the family ensures steady growth, innovation, and a unified approach to excellence.
